IA|BE Solvency II vs. ICS Framework: Comparing Solvency II with the Insurance Capital Standard
Solvency II is not the only framework that determines how much capital an insurer must hold. Around the world, various solvency and capital regimes exist, each with its own principles, methodology and supervisory context.
In this session, we place Solvency II alongside the Insurance Capital Standard (ICS) the global capital standard developed by the IAIS for internationally active insurance groups. We explore the similarities, the key differences, and what sets these two frameworks apart in terms of valuation, capital requirements and risk approach.
An accessible introduction for anyone looking to understand how Solvency II relates to broader, international developments in capital and solvency.
Target audience
This session is aimed at actuaries, risk and capital management professionals, supervisors, and anyone working with or interested in insurance solvency frameworks who wants to understand how Solvency II compares to the ICS. No prior knowledge of the ICS is required.
Practical information
This is a two-hour online session, delivered in English, and forms part of the broader IA|BE Solvency II training programme. The Teams link will be shared no later than two days in advance.
