CPD: AI Act & Ethical AI for Actuaries (10/09/2026) - 2 CPD

IA|BE AI Act & Ethical AI for Actuaries

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the insurance value chain, from personalised pricing and underwriting to risk management and claims handling. As AI systems become more widely adopted, regulatory and ethical frameworks are rapidly catching up.

The EU AI Act is now approved, and its implications for actuaries are concrete: AI systems used for pricing and underwriting in life and health insurance are classified as high-risk applications. This has direct consequences for how models are built, validated and documented and for the governance structures your organisation needs to put in place.

Beyond regulation, ethical frameworks based on self-regulation (including guidelines on fairness and non-discrimination) are complementary and equally important for day-to-day actuarial practice.

This online session covers the key concepts of the AI Act and their translation to actuarial practice, the link with EIOPA, DORA and other relevant regulation, the consequences for model development, validation and technical documentation, how fairness and ethics are operationalised in AI systems (including data fairness and bias detection), and the concrete steps your organisation needs to take to achieve compliance, from AI governance boards to model assessment frameworks.

This session is suited for actuaries and risk professionals working at insurance companies or pension funds.

Speakers: Rik van Beers & Cornelis Slagmolen (Milliman Brussels Office)

Practical info: The session will be delivered in English, and a Teams link will be shared two days prior to the session.
