Balance Sheet Management Game – introduction
The Balance Sheet Management Game (BSM Game) is an interactive game designed to explore the policy framework and decision-making challenges of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this game, you will take on the role of CFO for PrimeInsurance (PI), a fictional life and non-life insurance company. Your task is to evaluate and implement different strategies aimed at improving key performance indicators, including solvency and capital growth.
As CFO, you are responsible for managing PI’s overall risk-return profile. The BSM Game examines both the asset and liability sides of the balance sheet. Throughout the game, you will engage with topics such as asset allocation, interest-rate hedging strategies, product pricing, and reinsurance - supported by practical, illustrative examples.
Based on your strategic decisions, PI’s balance sheet will be projected into the future, allowing you to assess the impact on several key metrics. These outcomes will then be compared, analyzed, and discussed.
