Actuaries Without Borders (AWB®) is pleased to announce an opportunity for one (1) volunteer in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia.

Actuaries Without Borders (AWB®) is pleased to announce an opportunity for one (1) volunteer in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia for AWB members to facilitate a 2-day workshop with the theme of “Soft skills for actuaries” in the month of September 2019. The exact dates will be agreed by volunteer and Macedonian Actuarial Association (MAA). The attendees of the workshop will be members of the MAA, actuarial association and clubs in the Western Balkan countries.

 International travel costs restricted to lowest return economy airfare from the volunteer’s home city to Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia and lodging and incidental expenses will be reimbursed by the AWB® and MAA for this opportunity. Please refer the IAA expense reimbursement policy for further information on reimbursement procedure.

 Background Information

The Macedonian Actuarial Association, a Full Member Association of the International Actuarial Association (IAA), aims to offer actuarial professionals in the Western Balkan countries high level CPD training, MAA requests AWB® to provide a 2-day workshop with the theme of “Soft skills for actuaries”.

Communication skills are essential for the actuaries and as such they are included in the IAA 2017 syllabus. The purpose of this workshop is to enable the participants to apply their technical knowledge and skills in an effective, practical and professional manner. It should provide them with theory and case studies from the practice how to effectively communicate their technical work with their peers, managers and clients.

 Volunteer Qualifications

The volunteer must be a senior qualified actuary of a full member association of the IAA with proven experience in “soft skills”, with various exposures starting as a junior actuarial student moving up in the hierarchy and ending in senior management and/or board of a financial services provider.

Strong presentation and engagement skills are required for this course. Prior training/teaching experience would be a definite asset.

MAA will do its best to ensure that the volunteer’s experience over the period of the assignment is pleasant and that his/her safety is assured from arrival upon departure in the Republic of North Macedonia.

AWB®, IAA and other organizations involved in the assignment cannot and do not assume responsibility for any travel delays, illness, personal injuries or property damage.
